How this calculator works

Fuel cost = (miles ÷ MPG) × price per gallon. With a reefer, add reefer gallons per hour × run hours × price.

Use all the miles you'll drive, loaded and empty. For MPG, use your own number from fuel receipts and the odometer over the last few months, not the sticker figure.

The price starts at the latest weekly on-highway diesel average from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, for the U.S. or the region you pick. That's a retail average including taxes. What you pay depends on where you fuel and on your fuel card, so type your own price if you know it.

A reefer unit burns fuel by the hour, not the mile. Use your unit's hour meter and fuel log to get its burn rate.
