How this calculator works
UCR fee = the fee for the bracket your vehicle count falls in. Brokers, leasing companies, and freight forwarders that don't operate trucks pay the smallest bracket's fee.
What counts as a vehicle. UCR counts commercial motor vehicles: self-propelled vehicles used in commerce to haul cargo or passengers with a gross vehicle weight (or rating) of 10,001 lb or more, or any vehicle hauling placarded hazmat, or one built for more than 10 passengers including the driver. Trailers aren't self-propelled, so they don't count. The fee is based on the vehicles you operated in the prior year.
When to pay. Register and pay before January 1 of the registration year. After that, the fee is still due, and you can be subject to state enforcement until you pay.
