British Columbia vs. its neighbors, Q1 2024
| Jurisdiction | Diesel + surcharge | vs. BC |
|---|---|---|
| British Columbia | $0.9002 | — |
| Washington | $0.4940 | −$0.4062 |
| Idaho | $0.3200 | −$0.5802 |
| Montana | $0.2975 | −$0.6027 |
| Alberta | $0.2544 | −$0.6458 |
On an IFTA return, a higher rate doesn't mean you pay more overall. Fuel you buy in a high-rate state earns a bigger credit. What matters is where you burn the fuel versus where you buy it.
